Chris Austin
Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer
Mr. Austin is responsible for the execution of ICAT’s risk quantification, management and modeling services; including leadership of the modeling science program designed to further ICAT’s understanding of catastrophe risk. In addition, he is the primary architect of ICAT’s proprietary view of risk, IMAM, the ICAT Model Adjustment Methodology.
Prior to ICAT, he served as a Senior Engineer and Project Manager for Research and Risk at Risk Management Solutions. As a Senior Engineer, Mr. Austin developed and maintained international and domestic computer-based, probabilistic wind and earthquake catastrophe risk models. Mr. Austin’s experience at Predictive Systems, a computer network consulting company, provided him the opportunity to develop quantitative modeling and analytics of computer networks to facilitate tactical and strategic risk-return business decisions.
Mr. Austin has a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Civil Engineering from Cornell University. He has co-authored and published several articles, including: “Fire Following the Northridge Earthquake”, “Entropy Analysis of the Networked Enterprise” and “Priority Scheme Optimization for Differentiated Network Service.”
In his spare time, Mr. Austin can be found riding his single speed bicycle to work or head down, lost in a historical fiction novel.
